Children's Contact Centre
The first of its kind on the Tablelands the Contact Centre is a child focused, visitation centre. A safe space where children and parents experiencing separation can connect to establish or maintain relationships. Parents or other family members can be involved in visitation with children at our centre. Changeover of care for children between parents can be arranged on a regular basis. Families who are engaged with the Family Law Court or have parenting agreements in place can also benefit from accessing our centre.
Services for young people
We welcome young people under the age of 25 to all of our services. While we have specialised counselling available for substance use, our counselling team is available for all concerns. Children (up to 18) do not have to be living with the parent to access our services and any young person with issues around alcohol and other drugs can access our services.

Keeping seniors safe at home
We specialise in helping people stay in their homes for longer. Our Home Maintenance and Modifications department has tradesmen who are appropriately certified with years of experience behind them and include a carpenter and electrician. Examples of work we do include installation of ramps and shower rails, levelling steps to changing light bulbs and taps. We accept referrals from My Aged Care to do this work at minimum cost. We also have a specialist social worker who ensures the wellbeing of the elderly.
Counselling & Psychology
We offer free therapy and support to Tablelanders. We welcome everyone from families with children under the age of 18, young people under the age of 25, people dealing with issues around alcohol and other drugs to Seniors and beyond. Better Together's team of professional and qualified psychologists will be able to help using evidence-based methods and knowledge. Currently, we are not accepting Medicare Better Access referrals until further notice.
You don't have to go it alone... we can help you be better, together.
Is it time for meaningful work?
Our volunteers are pretty special. While many come to us for professional reasons e.g. re-entering the workforce, just as many stay for the camaraderie, friendship and sheer joy of selflessness. If you are a student and would like to expand your horizon with a placement, we'd also love to have a conversation. If you would like to enrich your life with the beauty of volunteerism, then we're here to listen and figure out the best ways to put your talents and experience to good use. Because we're always better... together.
The joy of community
Better Together often holds community events for Tablelanders. If you would like to know more about how to participate, such as volunteering for the event, please get in touch with us. If you are another community group and would like to collaborate with us, we are more than happy to have a conversation. To know more about what we do and upcoming events, please follow us on Facebook.

Better Together, here to help

Our story began way back in 1986 when a group of really committed Tablelanders got together to start a community organisation that would help give information and advice to anyone who needed it. Through the years, we’ve added more services like counselling and case management, but we remain committed to our core vision: strengthening community through our  services.
People come to us for many reasons:
