Help give us a new name

Thirty-three years is a long time to be in business.

It is even more of an accomplishment for a not-for-profit that services a country area as vast ast he Atherton Tablelands.

That’s exactly what local charity Community Services Tablelands (CST) has been doing discreetly and professionally since 1986. It has provided a drop-in centre, a helping hand to those in strife and taken care of the mental health needs of Tablelanders.

The time has come, however, for the charity to take a step up in marketing its services.

Chief Executive Officer John Russell said, “We’re putting a call out to everyone in the community to give us a new name.

“We’ve been around for more than 30 years and we have helped and worked with thousands of Tablelanders to give us a new name.

“You know us, we want a name that connects us… and now, you can name us!”

Mr Russell explained the reason for the name competition, “CST was established as a grassroots organisation and has been a stabilising and supportive force in the community since its establishment.

“It’s grown exponentially since then and with a new purpose-built community centre in sight, this is a fitting time to look at how we can reach even more people.

“In the spirit of collaboration and creativity, we wanted to know the thoughts and opinions of the people who matter the most to us at CST: the community of the Tablelands.

“CST staff have wholeheartedly supported this process by exploring what CST does, and its purpose in the community.

“We have come up with a few options that we believe reflect CST’s reasons for being.

“Option is Better Together; Option 2 is Community Compass and the third option is Community Support.”

“Now, we’d like the community to tell us what name best suits us by numbering the above options in order of preference.

“But, as a fourth option, we would like you to tell us what our name should be.

“By giving us a name option, you’ll be automatically entered in a draw to win a great family hamper that comprises of family passes to the Mamu Tropical Skywalk, Paronella Park and a $100 voucher to the Cairns Coconut Resort.

“Put your best creative hat on, and be as imaginative as you like!”

“The survey is available at CST’s reception counters at Main St and Mabel St offices, and also here: Give us a new name!

“You can also find us on Facebook (CommunityServicesTablelands) where there’s a post with the survey.”

The survey closes on June 30, 2019, so get your skates on!
