Better Together volunteers come to us for a variety of reasons.
These may range from purely vocational reasons, such as resume building or to gain confidence in the workplace after time away. You may wish to be involved in, or learn skills in Administration, Reception, Tax Help or transportation. Volunteering is always a wonderful way to showcase your skills to potential employers.
Whatever your reasons, there is always a place for your skills and experience.
We also have volunteers who simply enjoy the company of others and the joy of helping others. You may also have lived experience where you can use your knowledge and wisdom to help others who may be in a similar situation that you may have empathy for.
We encourage you to discuss your interests, skills and availability with the Community Development Team to identify an appropriate role.
We are also active in the education sphere. We accept student placements and have a track record in working collaboratively so that students can achieve their academic goals while practising their theoretical understanding in the real world of community development.
We believe in an inclusive and diverse workplace that is mutually respectful.
We also believe that volunteering can also be fun. Whether you are based at our Mabel St Community Hub or our Main St office, volunteers soon develop a sense of camaraderie and friendship at Better Together.
Many come for practical reasons, but they often stay for emotionally fulfilling reasons.
